We are working on the ‘Gold Trail’ (historic heritage trail listed by the INEPAC _ Instituto Estadual do Patrimônio Cultural), near the railway station of Vila Inhomirim, (former Barão de Mauá branch line, first commercial railway in the country), the Inhomirim Waterfalls’ banks, junction between several springs that supply the cities of Magé and Petrópolis.

Raiz da Serra / Vila Inhomirim, belongs to the sixth district of Magé, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Gold Trail also known as ‘Estrada real’ (Royal Road), or even, ‘Caminho do Proença’. The road was opened in 1723 to shorten the gold route from Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro. Years later, in 1802, the Portuguese had the road paved with irregular stones. The road made by enslaved africans was the main access of the court, merchants, and miners to the gold mines and interior of the country. Today the historic trail remains preserved and constitutes the largest touristic route in the country, encompassing a series of scenic byways, totaling 1.012835 miles[i] of historic roads. Being  in the section where the Samambaia House is located.

Barão de Mauá Railway Line officially called the Imperial Steam Navigation Railway and Petrópolis Railway, it was the first railway established in Brazil, inaugurated in 1854. In its initial stretch it connected the Mauá Port (former Guia de Pacobaíba station) to Fragoso. Currently, it is the Vila Inhomirim branch terminal that connects to Saracuruna and Central do Brasil stations.
