Fauna and Flora

The Golden Lion Tamarin, the sloth, toucans, ball armadillos, anteaters, owls, and many other smallers animals.

There is a variety of native trees and plants in this area, such as Ferns, the Pau d’alho tree, Banyan Trees, Angico, Jacaré and Bromélias, besides several PANCS (Plants Conventional Food Products) and medical herbs, such as taioba, bredo, coriander, chapéu-de-couro, and many others.

Inhomirim Waterfall

It is one of the main points of interest of Casa Samambaia. Its springs that flow into the falls, supply part Magé’s and Petrópolis’ streams. For its grandeur and beauty, it is much sought after by tourists, sportsmen (mainly hiking and mountaineering) and by members of Afro-Brazilian cults.
